There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive policing operations resulted in the arrest of eleven individuals for various offenses, including illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, possession of offensive weapons, drunkenness, and acts intended to cause serious bodily harm. During the night, 768 vehicles were stopped for inspection, and 987 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 54 property inspections were conducted, resulting in 5 complaints.
During traffic stops, 368 citations were issued for various traffic violations, 97 of which were for speeding. A total of 229 breathalyzer tests were conducted, during which 27 drivers tested positive. Four drug tests were also conducted, with one positive result. In addition, as part of the police operations, 6 vehicles were impounded.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at preventing and suppressing crime, continue daily, with an increased police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
