The violent storm and strong winds that struck the occupied area of Trikomo caused serious damage and problems, centering on the villages of Agios Iakovos and Arnadi.
According to a statement from the “municipality” of Trikomo, which has been republished by Turkish Cypriot online media, the stormy winds caused damage to the building of the Agios Iakovos–Mandron Hunting Club.
In Arnadi, power poles were reported to have fallen, leading to a small fire that was immediately extinguished by fire crews.
During the firefighting operations, a main water pipe burst, resulting in a temporary interruption of the water supply to the community until the damage was repaired.
In addition, as a precautionary safety measure, coastal areas were evacuated, and residents were advised to avoid non-essential travel, as crews remain on standby to assess the damage and restore the networks.
