Coral Bay, the most popular beach in the city and district of Paphos, is sending out an SOS. According to experts’ estimates, 60% of the coastline has suffered severe erosion, resulting in a rapid decrease in the available space for setting up lounge chairs and umbrellas for beachgoers.
Local authorities have already taken measures and redistributed beach equipment in the area, but this has sparked strong reactions from residents who claim there is no space left to set up their own umbrellas and chairs.
As reported on the “Alpha News” program by Alpha Cyprus’s correspondent in the city and district of Paphos, Costas Nanos, this phenomenon may well be seasonal, as it has been observed in previous years as well, putting the relevant authorities on alert.
However, the construction projects carried out in the area for the construction and operation of two entertainment venues have also come under scrutiny regarding the possibility that they may negatively impact the beach.
Coral Bay serves the needs of guests at the nearby hotels and villas that have been built in the area.
