Temperatures are soaring, reaching 39 degrees Celsius in the capital

Rain is possible after noon
ALPHANEWSLIVE

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region. Today, the weather will be generally clear, though gradually—and especially after noon—there will be increased local cloud cover, which may bring isolated showers in the mountains. Winds will initially be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, before gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 39 degrees inland, around 32 on the western and southwestern coasts, around 34 degrees along the rest of the coast, and around 28 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, while coastal areas will see occasional low cloud cover. Later and during the early morning hours, patchy fog or mist may form locally, mainly in the southeast. Winds will gradually become light, blowing downslope at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will drop to around 23 degrees in the interior and along the coast, and to around 17 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the weather in most parts of the island will be mostly clear with temporarily increased cloud cover; however, clouds developing after noon in the mountains and inland areas are expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms. During the evening and early morning hours, localized light fog or mist, as well as increased low-level cloud cover, is expected.

Temperatures on Thursday are not expected to change significantly, remaining above normal for this time of year. By Saturday, however, temperatures will gradually drop slightly, before temporarily returning to values close to the seasonal average.
