Prices for school supplies at supermarkets have remained stable this year, the Executive Secretary of the Pan-Cyprus Supermarket Association, Andreas Hatzadamou, told KYPE on Thursday, adding that there are options for every need and budget.
When asked if price increases had been recorded, Mr. Hatzadamou replied in the negative, saying that, unlike other product categories where upward price pressures are observed, supermarkets are making sure to keep prices for school supplies stable.

As he explained, in recent years, supermarkets have strengthened their partnerships with suppliers and have been importing goods themselves so as not to rely exclusively on markets where price pressures may arise.
He noted that, according to a survey conducted by the Association in the market over the past few days, large, medium, and small supermarkets have the necessary school supplies in sufficient quantities and, as he put it, “at the best possible prices.”
Mr. Hatzadamou noted that school backpacks are in the highest demand, followed by other school supplies, including notebooks and writing materials. He added that the range of products in supermarkets has expanded significantly to cater to both consumers who choose low- or mid-priced items and those seeking more expensive options.
“We make sure there are options for every need and every budget,” he said, noting that greater emphasis is placed on serving the majority of consumers, who are looking for mid-range or lower-priced products.
He also noted that some supermarkets have already announced special offers, while consumers can take advantage of loyalty cards and other reward programs.
In conclusion, Mr. Hatzadamou said that, while in the past school supplies were mainly available at specialty stores and large supermarkets, today, dedicated sections are also available in small and medium-sized supermarkets, offering, as he noted, a wider variety and more choices.
