As Michalis Nikolaou, Assistant Police Director of Operations for Paphos and Press Spokesperson for the Paphos Police Department, told CNA, investigators have completed most of the investigation and will seek guidance from the Legal Service regarding the next steps. Mr. Nikolaou stated that the possibility of immediately filing the case in court is being considered, even before the expiration of the 37-year-old father’s detention order, next Tuesday.

However, according to information from CNA, the most likely scenario is that the 37-year-old father will be released on probation.

Meanwhile, according to Mr. Nikolaou, the results of the laboratory tests are still pending. At the same time, the child’s father, who is currently in custody, has filed a request through his attorney for immediate release.

The 37-year-old is being investigated for the offenses of causing death due to reckless, careless or dangerous act, dereliction of duty as head of the family, and dereliction of responsibility as a person entrusted with the care of another person.

According to the police and the findings of the autopsy conducted at the Nicosia General Hospital Morgue by medical examiners Dr. Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou, the cause of the three-year-old’s death was a severe traumatic brain injury, as well as multiple injuries to the body and vital organs, which were caused by a fall from a height.

Meanwhile, the hotel bears no responsibility for the tragic incident involving the death of a three-year-old boy, who fell from the fourth floor of a hotel in Paphos, according to the president of the Paphos Hoteliers Association, Evripides Loizidis.
