Average rainfall in August, through August 20 at 9:00 a.m., reached 255% of the monthly normal in the unoccupied areas, according to data released Tuesday by the Department of Meteorology, reaching 498.5 millimeters.
Average precipitation exceeded the monthly norm at all of the Meteorological Department’s measuring stations, and in some cases was more than ten times the average normal amount.
The highest excesses were recorded at Gefiri tis Panagias at 1,593%, at Lythrodonta at 1,270%, at Korno at 1,108%, at Larnaca Airport at 800%, and at Platania at 471%.
From October 1 to the present, average rainfall in the free areas has reached 117% of normal, at 585.7 millimeters, with all stations exceeding 100% of normal.
