With the six defendants denying the 15 charges brought against them, the trial begins today, the trial in the murder case of 49-year-old businessman Stavros Demosthenous, which took place on October 17, 2025, in Limassol.

The six defendants—two 30-year-olds, one 31-year-old, one 51-year-old, and two 28-year-olds, face charges including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit murder, vehicle arson, illegal possession, transportation, and use of a firearm, illegal possession, transportation, and use of explosives, and vehicle theft.

It should be noted that one of the 30-year-olds is allegedly linked to the sale of the motorcycle used by the perpetrators to flee, after the van they used in the murderous ambush was set on fire.

The other 30-year-old, who is a convicted felon in another case, is alleged to have given instructions from the Central Prison to purchase the motorcycle, while the 51-year-old’s DNA was found in a stolen vehicle used to tail the victim.

As for the 31-year-old, he is alleged to be the driver of the van from which the shots were fired. He was initially arrested for aiding and abetting the murder, as he is alleged to be the person who helped one of the two 28-year-olds escape through the occupied territories.

As part of the investigation, he was re-arrested for new offenses, as he is alleged to be the person who ordered fake license plates for the stolen vehicle, while his DNA was found on a hat that fell from one of the two perpetrators as they fled on the motorcycle.

One 28-year-old is alleged to be the person who carried out the attack on Demosthenes, and the other 28-year-old is the person who drove the perpetrators away in a car when they abandoned the motorcycle.

On June 5, the defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges, and the court set the start of the trial for today, September 8, and set 11 additional dates through the end of September for the trial to continue.
