According to reports from the occupied territories, the two Greek Cypriots had previously crossed the Pyrgos Tillyrias checkpoint without completing the “required procedures” for crossing. Upon their return via the Astromeritis checkpoint, it was determined, according to the claims of the occupying authorities, that the required registration of their crossing had not been completed beforehand, resulting in their “arrest.”
The two were brought before a “military court” today, where they were charged with trespassing on a “military zone” and for “passing through a checkpoint without completing the required procedures.”
The “court” issued an order for the three-day “detention” of the two individuals, while the investigation continues. The next hearing before the “military court” is scheduled for Thursday, July 16.
