Temperatures are really soaring, with the Meteorological Service issuing an orange heat wave warning for the first time this summer.
The warning will be in effect from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with temperatures expected to reach around 43 degrees Celsius inland and around 32 degrees Celsius in the higher mountainous areas.

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear. Gradually, low clouds and light fog or mist are expected to form, mainly along the eastern and southern coasts. Winds will be mainly northwesterly to northeasterly, light at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 24 degrees in inland areas and along the coast, and to 21 degrees in the higher mountainous regions.
Tomorrow, the weather will be mostly clear, though initially there may be some low cloud cover and light fog in some areas, mainly along the southern coast. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly and initially variable, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will reach 43 degrees inland, 33 on the western coast, around 36 on the rest of the coast, and 32 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tomorrow night, the weather will be mostly clear. Winds will be light and downsloping, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough.
On Thursday, the weather will be mostly clear. On Friday and Saturday, the weather will continue to be mostly clear, though locally increased cloud cover will be observed at times.
Temperatures on Thursday will not change significantly, while on Friday they are expected to drop, with a further decline on Saturday, to hover slightly below average seasonal values.
