Both of the family’s young daughters are being treated at Makarios Hospital, following the tragedy that unfolded on Saturday afternoon at a beach in Larnaca, when their mother drowned in the sea.
Specifically, the tragedy occurred around 6:20 p.m. when the family of five, all European nationals, was at the CTO beach.

The mother and two of the three minor children—the two girls who are currently hospitalized—were in the water when, under unclear circumstances, the mother drowned. The unfortunate woman was pulled from the water unconscious, and despite resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the two children, who had been in the sea, were initially taken to Larnaca General Hospital, and one was transferred shortly afterward to Makarios Hospital due to the severity of her condition.
Subsequently, the second girl was also transferred to Makarios Hospital.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
