The Fire Department was alerted at noon on Tuesday after a fire broke out in a parked vehicle in the community of Ergates in the Nicosia District.
According to the Fire Department, at 1:25 p.m., a call was received reporting a fire in a motor vehicle that was parked in an open factory parking lot in the community of Ergates, in the Nicosia District.
The Lakatamia Fire Station responded with two fire trucks, and the fire was brought under control at 1:52 p.m. As a result of the fire and the heat, the vehicle sustained extensive damage to the engine compartment and the front end, and a small area of nearby dry grass was also affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, in cooperation with the police.
