On Monday afternoon, the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSED) carried out an air evacuation of a 67-year-old passenger from a cruise ship.
According to an announcement by the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (KSD), on June 29, 2026, at 3:20 p.m., the National Search and Rescue Plan “NEARCHOS” was activated at 3:20 p.m. on June 29, 2026, with the aim of transporting a 67-year-old patient of Belgian origin from a passenger ship sailing in a maritime area approximately 110 nautical miles northwest of Paphos.
A helicopter from the Police Aviation Operations Unit was deployed for the operation, carried a specialized nurse from the Special Air Ambulance Team of the OKYPY Ambulance Service.
The 67-year-old was safely transported to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was admitted at 6:50 p.m. for further treatment.
