There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols carried out at key locations in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, four individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus and traffic violations.
As part of these operations, 594 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 751 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 36 inspections were carried out at premises to address instances of illegal activity, resulting in 3 complaints.

During traffic checks that were carried out, 343 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 4 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 111 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 10 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 122 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 5 citations, as well as 5 preliminary drug tests, with three positive results.

Police operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
