Temperatures are expected to climb to 40 degrees Celsius today.
The Meteorological Department issued a yellow warning yesterday for high temperatures today, Wednesday, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius inland.

According to the Meteorological Department, the warning will be in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
More specifically, a seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region. An unstable air mass is expected starting Friday.
Today, the weather will be mostly clear, but increased cloud cover will be observed at times, and isolated showers cannot be ruled out in the afternoon, mainly in the mountains. Winds will initially be variable and light at 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily along the southern coast, reaching strong at 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will reach 40 degrees inland, 31 on the western coast, around 34 along the rest of the coast, and 30 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
In the evening, the weather will be mostly clear, but locally there will be increased low cloud cover. Winds will gradually shift to northwesterly to northeasterly, and on the northern coast to southeasterly, light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to 22 degrees inland, around 24 degrees along the coast, and 20 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
On Thursday, the weather will be mostly clear, but there will be periods of increased local cloud cover, and isolated showers are likely in the afternoon, mainly in the mountains.
On Friday and Saturday, the weather will initially be mostly clear, but in the afternoon, increased cloud cover will develop locally, bringing isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains and inland areas.
Temperatures will not change significantly on Thursday, while on Friday and Saturday they will drop, hovering near seasonal averages.
