The Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning on Wednesday for Thursday at noon, as temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees inland. The warning is in effect from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

As noted by the Meteorological Department, during this period, the maximum temperature in inland areas is expected to rise to around 40 degrees Celsius.

More specifically, a seasonal low-pressure system is currently affecting the region, while on Saturday, a disturbance from the north is expected to impact the island.

Today, after the local low cloud cover and light fog or mist clear, the weather will generally become mostly sunny. However, after noon, developing clouds are expected to bring isolated showers, mainly in the mountains but also in inland areas. Winds will initially be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, before gradually shifting to mainly light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally in the south this afternoon up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 40 degrees inland, around 32 on the western coast, around 34 along the rest of the coast, and around 30 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, though at times—and especially along the coast—there will be increased low cloud cover. Later, during the early morning hours, patchy fog or mist is expected to form locally, mainly in southeastern and inland areas. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to the northwest, initially light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and gradually easing to 3 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 21 degrees inland, around 23 degrees along the coast, and around 20 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

On Friday, the weather will be mostly clear, though increased cloud cover in the mountains after noon may bring isolated showers.

On Saturday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. These conditions may be intense or prolonged in some areas. On Sunday, the weather will initially be mostly clear; however, after noon, increased cloud cover is expected to bring isolated showers, mainly in the mountains, inland areas, and the south.

Temperatures will not change significantly on Friday, remaining above seasonal averages. On Saturday, temperatures will drop noticeably, falling below seasonal norms, while on Sunday they will rise slightly.
