The details surrounding the killing of a cat in Paphos are horrifying, and the police have made three arrests.
The unfortunate animal, as determined during the autopsy, had 13 bullet pellets in its body. The complaint was filed with the police on October 4. The previous day, the 56-year-old Greek Cypriot, the animal’s owner, found his kitten dead outside his home and was shocked when confronted with this horrific sight.
According to statements made by Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou, stated that evidence was secured, with CCTV footage “giving away” the perpetrators’ vehicle. Through this footage, the registered owner of the vehicle was identified as a 65-year-old Greek Cypriot woman residing in Paphos, and according to reports, the vehicle was regularly used by a relative of hers, specifically the 18-year-old National Guard member.
The police proceeded to arrest the 18-year-old and subsequently obtained testimony that two other young men, aged 18 and 16, who had participated in the horrific crimes.

This indicates that three individuals, one of whom was a minor, got into the vehicle, took the gun with them, and at some point got out of the car and frantically shot the unfortunate kitten.
According to Mr. Nikolaou, while the youths were driving down a certain street, they noticed the kitten, which was crossing the street at that moment, and together they decided to shoot it.
The offenses under investigation against them include conspiracy to commit a felony and a misdemeanor, as well as the illegal possession and transport of a hunting firearm and explosive materials. They are also charged with killing an animal and firing shots in a residential area. The case is expected to be filed immediately with the court for trial.
It should be noted that the firearm belonged to the grandfather of the 18-year-old National Guard member, who has since passed away, and how it came into his possession is currently under investigation.
