Marina Neophytou is the first female rector at the University of Cyprus.
Voting at the University of Cyprus Sports Center for the position of rector began at 8:30 a.m. and concluded at 12:00 p.m., with 486 electors eligible to vote, specifically 348 members of the academic staff, 117 members of student political groups, and 21 members of the administrative staff.

Marina Neophytou serves as Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Cyprus.
She joined the University of Cyprus as a Lecturer in 2005, as an Assistant Professor in 2009, as an Associate Professor in 2015, and as a Full Professor in 2020.
