The British Bases Police confirmed that over the past seven days, 22 arrests were made for various offenses, including drug possession and four cases of driving under the influence of alcohol.
In total, 31 traffic safety operations were carried out throughout Cyprus, resulting in the issuance of 57 out-of-court fines and the issuance of 30 written warnings.
In Dekelia, police officers arrested a man on the evening of September 1 for driving under the influence of narcotics.
During a search of his vehicle, police officers located and seized a small amount of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine, two folding knives, a glass pipe with traces of narcotics, and a grinder, which is believed to have been used for cannabis.
In one of the seven traffic accidents that occurred, specialized police officers investigated the tragic death of a man who lost his life on the Limassolwhile attempting to retrieve an object that had fallen onto the road.

The driver of the minibus that struck the man was arrested and questioned, then released on restrictive conditions, while the investigation continues.
The Marine Police Unit conducted 39 patrols, during which 51 vessels were inspected, and successfully rescued six people from the Lady’s Mile area following a mechanical failure on the vessel they were aboard.
The Dekelia special task force for combating the illegal trapping of wild birds continued its high-visibility operations, aimed at locating and apprehending individuals attempting to illegally trap migratory vine sparrows.
A total of five targeted patrols were conducted, during which six metal stakes and four metal bases were removed and destroyed from a single location.
Referring to the developments of the past seven days and the fatal accident on the highway, Police Officer Melina Papagrigoriou stated: “It has been a challenging week for our officers, one tragically marked by the fatal traffic collision on the Limassol–Paphos highway.
“Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life. The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, and we urge all road users to remain vigilant, slow down when approaching stationary vehicles, and exercise particular caution on high-speed roads.
“Despite this tragic incident, our officers continued to conduct visible patrols, targeted checks, and provide immediate assistance to our communities, demonstrating their professionalism and commitment to the protection and safety of citizens.”
