Starting July 1, 2026, Cypriot television will enter a new era: Private television channels will be broadcast exclusively via the new frequencies (35, 48) and DVB-T2 technology.
Viewers should immediately rescan their TV or set-top box. If the device does not support the new technology, appropriate equipment (e.g., a DVB-T2 set-top box) may be required.
This step is necessary to continue accessing television programs, and for more information and support, citizens can visit the website www.hellas-sat.digital or contact the Customer Service Center at 22000737.
Andronikos Kakkouras, Deputy Director of the Electronic Communications Department, explained on the Alpha Kalimera show that televisions purchased more than seven years ago support the new technology; otherwise, they will need to purchase an external set-top box, which is available at electronics and appliance stores in a wide variety of models and price ranges.
He also advised citizens to first try retuning their TVs and then look for a set-top box if there is no indication that the TV supports DVB-T2 technology. Mr. Kakkouras said that as of tonight, after midnight, the previous broadcast will cease, and no further extension is expected.
