A final farewell to 30-year-old George, who lost his life on the road; contributions for his two minor children

Deep mourning for the death of 30-year-old Giorgos Georgiou, who lost his life in a fatal accident on Sunday night, with family and friends set to bid their final farewell to the tragically lost young man on Wednesday, August 26.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Larnaca, and the burial will take place at the Agios Georgios Cemetery next to the small church.

The family requests that, in lieu of wreaths, donations be made to support the deceased’s two minor children.

The funeral expenses will be covered by the Larnaca EOA, as the Organization had announced, as a small token of respect in his memory and a practical gesture of support for the 30-year-old’s family.

The timeline of the tragedy

It was shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, on the road from Kelia – Trullon Road, when, under circumstances currently under investigation, the motorcycle driven by 30-year-old George entered a curve, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with a vehicle. The car was carrying the 28-year-old driver, a passenger, and two young children, aged just four and two. The collision was severe.

The 30-year-old was transported by ambulance to Larnaca Hospital, where, despite the doctors’ superhuman efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. The other passengers in the car were also injured and taken to the hospital. They received first aid and were discharged.

Examinations revealed that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the vehicle underwent alcohol and drug tests, both of which came back negative.

According to the medical examiner’s report, his death was caused by a severe traumatic brain injury resulting from a traffic accident.

The unfortunate 30-year-old leaves behind a wife and two children, a seven-year-old boy and an infant.
