Police in Nicosia arrested a 21-year-old man yesterday in connection with a drug possession case.
Specifically, at around 3:40 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Ledra Substation, during a traffic stop on Aeschylus Street in Nicosia, pulled over a moped driven by a 21-year-old for inspection.
The inspection revealed that the 21-year-old was operating the moped without a safety certificate, without a driver’s license, without a certificate of roadworthiness, and without a valid registration.
During a subsequent search of the moped, a quantity of cannabis weighing a total of 40 grams was found, resulting in the arrest of the 21-year-old for a flagrant offense.
During subsequent searches of two residences where the 21-year-old lives, the following items, among others, were found and seized: a sum of 8,800 euros, 45 grams of cannabis, five grams of cannabis resin, a precision electronic scale, and three cell phones.
The 21-year-old was brought before the Nicosia District Court today, which issued a three-day detention order against him. The Cyprus Police (Nicosia Division) is continuing its investigation.
