A 30-year-old man in Limassol beat him, threatened him, and demanded that he hand over €3,600 while he was handcuffed

The police arrested a 30-year-old man, as part of an investigation into a case of assault and extortion with threats for the purpose of theft, which occurred on August 5, 2026, in the Limassol district, with a 49-year-old man as the victim.

According to the evidence under investigation, at around 6:00 p.m. on August 5, 2026, in an area of Limassol, the 49-year-old man was allegedly attacked by another person. He then went to Limassol General Hospital, where it was determined that he had sustained lacerations to his hands and head; after receiving first aid, he was discharged.

According to a complaint filed by the complainant, around the end of July 2026, two 30-year-old men allegedly demanded the sum of €3,600 from him and threatened that, if he failed to pay, they would damage his property.

Investigations conducted by police officers yielded evidence against the 30-year-old suspect. The suspect was located yesterday in the Larnaca district by police officers and was arrested pursuant to a court-issued arrest warrant.

He is expected to appear before the Limassol District Court later today for the issuance of a detention order.

The Limassol CID is continuing its investigation.
