The 47-year-old man, a Turkish Cypriot, is being treated on a ventilator at Nicosia General Hospital following an attack he allegedly suffered at the hands of a group of unknown individuals in Ayia Napa.
The brutal attack prompted a public statement from Tufan Erhurman.
“As soon as they were informed of the incident, the ‘Presidency’ and the Turkish Cypriot member of the Bi-communal Technical Committee contacted the family and the relevant authorities, while the ‘General Police Directorate’ also took action.“We are closely monitoring both the condition of our injured fellow citizen and the legal developments related to the incident,” the Turkish Cypriot leader stated in a post.
The Timeline
It is recalled that the 47-year-old man was found injured on a street in Ayia Napa around 6:00 a.m. by police officers who rushed to the scene following a tip.
He was then transported to the Famagusta General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and a skull base fracture.
Due to the severity of his condition, he was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. His condition is considered by his attending physicians to be serious but stable.
Police investigations have yielded testimony indicating that the 47-year-old was allegedly attacked by a group of unknown individuals, resulting in his injuries.
The Famagusta CID’s investigation is in full swing to identify the perpetrators and clarify the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred.
