Two individuals, who were wanted by the Belgian and Dutch authorities in connection with a fraud case, were located and arrested in Cyprus as part of an operation carried out by the Cyprus Police in cooperation with EUROPOL.

The operation concerned cases of financial fraud and cyber fraud committed between 2023 and 2025 and under investigation by Belgium and the Netherlands. As part of the investigation, an operation was carried out in Cyprus on July 7, 2026, with the assistance of Europol.

The operation took place in Cyprus on July 7, 2026, with the participation of more than 30 members of the Cyprus Police and the assistance of Europol officers and authorities from Belgium and the Netherlands. Searches were conducted at residences, offices, and premises, where a large number of pieces of evidence were located and seized. At the same time, two individuals, aged 34 and 45, were located and arrested pursuant to European arrest warrants.

The detainees were brought before the Limassol District Court, where proceedings for their extradition to Belgium began.

On the part of the Cyprus Police, the operation involved the Office for the Execution of European Investigation Orders and Requests for Judicial Assistance, the Crime Suppression Department, the Forensic Electronics Laboratory, the Technical Investigation Unit (TAE), and the Limassol Police Operations Unit (OPE), as well as members of the national Europol unit.

It should be noted that a third individual was located and arrested in Cyprus during investigations conducted by the British Bases Police on the territory of the Bases.
