The authorities’ investigation is in full swing to fully clarify the circumstances surrounding the tragedy involving the 4-year-old boy in Engomi.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, when the child fell from the sixth-floor balcony of the apartment where he lived with his parents and younger brother.
Authorities subsequently arrested the two parents, who were placed in custody for five days, with Police Spokesperson Byron Vyronos explaining on the Alpha News program the reasons for their detention.

“It is a tragic incident,” he emphasized, explaining that the parents’ arrest was carried out “to facilitate the investigation.”
“It was deemed necessary, even though we understand the grief and emotional distress, but all aspects must be examined.”
At the same time, results are expected from the legally mandated autopsy being conducted by medical examiners Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou.
As for the family’s youngest child, the one-and-a-half-year-old girl, while her parents remain in custody, Mr. Vyronos stated that all necessary measures have been taken for this child.

It should be noted that the tragedy occurred at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, at a time when the entire family was in the apartment: the father, the mother, and the 4-year-old’s younger sibling, a 1½-year-old girl.
The 4-year-old boy fell from the apartment’s enclosed balcony, with his father rushing out in a panic and finding his child lying in a pool of blood in the apartment building’s parking lot.
The child was taken to the hospital, where, despite the superhuman efforts of the doctors in the Trauma Unit, the boy lost his battle for life 35 minutes later, at 6:50 p.m.
