The 37-year-old father’s request to suspend criminal proceedings regarding the death of his 3-year-old son was denied.

The 37-year-old appeared in court today, where his attorney filed a motion to suspend the prosecution, which was rejected by the Attorney General.

The British man appeared today before the Paphos District Court, where his lawyer requested a postponement to allow him to respond to the charges he faces.

The case has been scheduled for September 22 at 9 a.m.

It is recalled that the tragedy occurred on July 12, when the 3-year-old child fell from the third floor of the hotel where the family—who had come to our country on vacation—was staying.

The 37-year-old had traveled to the United Kingdom following the temporary suspension of the restrictive conditions imposed on him, in order to attend his child’s funeral and handle procedural matters in his capacity as guardian.

The Paphos District Court had ordered the temporary lifting of the restrictive conditions from August 7 through September 14. As of September 15, the original conditions went back into effect, which include a cash bond of 20,000 euros, a ban on leaving the Republic, the surrender of his travel documents, and weekly reporting to the Paphos Police Station, among other conditions.

The 37-year-old faces a charge of causing the death of his three-year-old son through a reckless, irresponsible, or dangerous act.
