A diving trip in Ayia Napa ended in tragedy.

According to the police, at around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, while a 63-year-old man from the United Kingdom was diving in the Pernera area of Ayia Napa, he began to feel unwell and was transported to a floating platform.

The diving instructor who was accompanying him, along with lifeguards, provided first aid to the 63-year-old, while an ambulance was called to the scene, which transported him to the Famagusta General Hospital, where, despite the doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. 

The Ayia Napa Police Station is investigating.
