There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, five individuals were arrested for offenses such as illegal possession of drugs, illegal possession of property, illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, etc.
As part of these operations, 449 drivers and 106 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 41 property inspections were carried out to address violations, resulting in 2 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 300 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 12 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Among the citations issued, 101 were for speeding, and as part of police investigations, 7 vehicles were impounded. Eighty breathalyzer tests were conducted without resulting in any citations, while one driver tested positive in a preliminary drug test.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
