A fire broke out in a home in Deryneia in the early hours of the morning, prompting the Fire Department to respond.
According to Fire Department spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire in the two-story house broke out around 3:40 a.m. in a minor’s bedroom; the minor reported that he had placed his cell phone on the bed with the charger plugged in.
When he noticed the fire, he left the room and alerted his parents, and they all evacuated the house without anyone being harmed.
Two fully staffed fire trucks responded to extinguish the fire.
The bedroom sustained extensive damage from the flames and heat, and the rest of the floor was also affected.
