There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, seven individuals were arrested for various offenses, such as driving under the influence of alcohol and traffic violations.
As part of these operations, 850 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 1,162 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 60 inspections were carried out at premises to address instances of noncompliance, resulting in 14 complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 395 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 37 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 95 were for speeding, while 23 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 354 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 34 citations, as well as 3 preliminary drug tests, one of which was positive.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
