Overnight, members of the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department arrested a 19-year-old in connection with a total of eleven cases of burglary and theft committed during the months of June and July in Ayia Napa.
Specifically, shortly after 1:00 a.m., the police received a tip about a person acting suspiciously at a hotel in Ayia Napa.
Members of the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department, after arriving at the scene, spotted a suspicious individual exiting a hotel room. After the individual was stopped, it was determined that he was a 19-year-old in possession of a shoulder bag containing, among other items, 315 euros, a wallet, and two gold chains.
The 19-year-old was unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the legality of his possession of the aforementioned property and was arrested on the spot for a flagrant offense, and was subsequently identified as the perpetrator of ten other burglary and theft cases committed during the months of June and July in Ayia Napa.
The 19-year-old is expected to appear today before the Famagusta District Court for the purpose of issuing a detention order against him. The Famagusta CID is continuing its investigation.
