The operation took place on Friday (10/23), following an assessment of information received by the Chief Customs Office regarding a possible drug shipment to Cyprus. In cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DAOE) – YKAN, customs officers identified and inspected two large pieces of luggage belonging to a 19-year-old British passport holder who had traveled from Thailand to Cyprus via Dubai.

During the initial X-ray screening, the officers’ suspicions were confirmed, leading to a physical inspection of the luggage. There, 26 airtight nylon packages containing cannabis were discovered, with a total gross weight of approximately 28 kilograms.

The 19-year-old was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Agency (YKAN), while the drugs were seized by the Customs Department and handed over to the police for further investigation. Investigations are ongoing to identify the individuals who were to receive the drugs in Cyprus, and Interpol is expected to be notified of the case.
