Heavy rainfall is being reported at noon on Tuesday in various parts of Cyprus, amid a yellow warning issued by the Meteorological Service.

The yellow warning for severe thunderstorms is in effect until 6:00 p.m., and according to the Meteorological Service, isolated severe thunderstorms are expected to affect mountainous areas, the interior, and the northwest of the island. Hail may fall during thunderstorms, while winds will be variable and increasing in strength.

This afternoon, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms expected, particularly in mountainous areas, the interior, and the northwestern part of the island. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to the northwest, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily along the southern and eastern coasts, reaching strong speeds of 4 to 5 Beaufort. However, during thunderstorms, the winds will shift and intensify. The sea will be generally slightly rough. Tonight, there will be intermittent periods of increased local cloud cover, which may bring isolated showers along the coast. Winds will gradually become light and downsloping, at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough, though it will remain slightly rough locally in the west. Temperatures will drop to around 15 degrees inland, around 17 degrees along the coast, and around 8 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tomorrow morning, there will be increased local cloud cover, which may bring isolated showers, mainly along the coast; however, the weather will gradually become mostly cloudy, with isolated showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms expected. Winds will initially be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, before gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough, and temporarily slightly rough in the west. Temperatures will reach around 29 degrees inland and along the coast, and around 19 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

On Thursday, the weather in most areas will be mostly clear with temporarily increased cloud cover; however, after noon in the mountains, developing clouds may bring isolated showers.

On Friday and Saturday, the weather will be generally mostly clear, though locally increased cloud cover will be observed at times.

Temperatures will gradually rise through Saturday, reaching levels close to and slightly above the seasonal average.
