Early this afternoon, motorcyclists staged a brief symbolic closure of the Zodeia-Astromeritis roadblock, as part of the Isaac-Solomos Memorial Motorcycle Tour, marking the 30th anniversary of the sacrifices of the two heroes.
According to a statement from the Police Communications Division to KYPE, the motorcyclists blocked the roadblock for a few minutes—without actually closing the road—and then left without any incidents occurring.
According to a police statement issued earlier, the motorcyclists are undertaking a ride that is expected to conclude at 8 p.m. and will include stops at roadblocks in the Nicosia district.
On Saturday afternoon, the motorcyclists will first gather at designated locations in all districts and then depart for the Deryneia roadblock, while on Sunday morning, a delegation of motorcyclists, along with family members of the two heroes, will proceed to lay wreaths at the Deryneia roadblock and then to the Church of Saint Demetrius in Paralimni, where a memorial service will be held. Afterward, the motorcyclists will proceed to the Paralimni Cemetery for a memorial service.
