Amid an atmosphere of profound mourning and grief, the funeral of Popi Christoforou is being held at the Holy Trinity Church in downtown Limassol; she “passed away” after a long battle with cancer.
Relatives, friends, and representatives of the island’s political and civic leadership are bidding farewell to the woman—a symbol in the fight for justice for the 13 victims of the deadly explosion in Mari—dressed in white and blue, as was her wish.

The police are implementing special traffic arrangements in the area and urge those heading to the church to avoid using their vehicles and to use the available parking spaces in the area. Specifically, the following may be used:
- the multi-story municipal parking garage on Salaminos Street,
- the municipal parking lots in Epichosi, as well as
- other municipal parking lots in the area.
Those who, out of necessity, must travel to the church by car are asked to use Zenonos Street, heading south, as only the eastern entrance will remain open to vehicles for access to the church.
