Officers from the Polis Chrysochous Police Station, in cooperation with officers from the Paphos Customs Department, conducted a search today at a property owned by a 47-year-old man in Paphos, following an evaluation of evidence, as part of a crackdown on the illegal possession of untaxed tobacco products.
During the search, the following items were found:
- 25 cartons, each containing 200 cigarettes
- 2 kilograms and 650 grams of tobacco for hand-rolled cigarettes
- 3 kilograms and 250 grams of tobacco for hookahs
- 3 boxes of 200 heated cigarettes
An inspection revealed that all of the above tobacco products were untaxed. The 47-year-old owner of the premises was arrested on the spot for a flagrant offense, and a summons was issued against him by Customs Department officials; he paid the fine that same day and was released. The Chrysokhou City Police Station is continuing its investigation.
