The large fire that broke out shortly before 4:00 p.m. in the community of Lysou has been brought under control.
According to the Forestry Department’s press officer, Glafkos Kyriakou, the fire was brought under control around 5:45 p.m. after burning approximately 7 hectares of land.
While firefighting crews were on the scene, a second fire broke out 500 meters away, along the same road where the first fire started, with both incidents suggesting malicious acts, a matter currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
It should be noted that significant ground and air resources were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
