Three individuals were brought before the Paphos District Court yesterday, Saturday, as part of an investigation into a drug case and an assault on police officers, following simultaneous searches conducted at three residences and a property in the Paphos district. A 6-day detention order was issued for one individual, while the other two were charged in writing and released, to be summoned before the court at a later date.

For the 35-year-old, in whose possession a large sum of money and narcotics were found, the police requested a six-day detention order.

Specifically, during a search of his residence, the following items were found and seized: 42,500 euros in cash, 345 British pounds, and 40 Danish kroner, as well as 89 grams of cannabis, 1,133 ecstasy tablets, and 90 capsules of anabolic substances. A subsequent search of his vehicle turned up an additional five grams of cannabis.

The 35-year-old remains in custody, while the Court is expected to rule on Monday on his request for legal aid from the Republic, following the submission of a relevant report by the District Welfare Office.

As part of the same operation, a 40-year-old woman was also brought before the court; 3.5 grams of cannabis were found at her residence. The 40-year-old was charged in writing and released; she is expected to be summoned to appear in court at a later date.

The third individual, a 35-year-old man, was brought before the authorities following an incident that occurred during a search of his residence. According to the evidence currently under investigation, the man attacked police officers when officers attempted to conduct a search pursuant to a court order, resulting in injuries to two officers.

The two officers were transported to Paphos Hospital, where they received first aid and were subsequently discharged.

Nothing illegal was found at the 35-year-old’s residence. He was arrested, charged in writing, and released pending his subsequent appearance in court. The authorities’ investigation is ongoing.
