On Sunday, the Paphos Traffic Police launched a targeted campaign to address violations by users of personal mobility devices, in collaboration with a member of the Paphos Bicycle Police and under the supervision of the Paphos Traffic Police Road Safety Officer. According to the police, a total of 48 citations were issued during the operation.
According to the police, the campaign took place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., within the city of Paphos, and targeted violations related to the use of personal mobility devices, as well as other traffic violations.
Among the violations recorded were 14 citations for using a personal mobility device in a prohibited area: 10 citations for using a personal mobility device without a protective helmet, 4 reports involving individuals transporting objects attached to the device, 1 report of using a device outside the designated travel lane, 1 complaint regarding failure to obey traffic lights and traffic signals, one complaint regarding a device operator’s failure to use the proper hand signal, and 3 complaints against owners/those responsible for the safekeeping of vehicles, who failed to take the necessary measures to prevent their use by minors under the age of 17.
The Police report that they are continuing their inspections with the aim of ensuring road safety and compliance with relevant legislation by all road users.
