There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, 14 individuals were arrested for various offenses, including burglaries and thefts (three individuals), theft (two individuals), practicing the profession of private security guard without a license (three individuals), illegal possession and transportation of a firearm (two individuals), as well as illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
As part of these operations, 449 drivers and 125 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 45 property inspections were conducted to address instances of non-compliance.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 188 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 11 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the reports filed, 54 involved speeding, and as part of the police investigations, eight vehicles were impounded.
A total of 89 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in four citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
