Traffic checks will begin tomorrow, Saturday, to ensure compliance with seat belt and child/booster seat requirements.
Intensified traffic enforcement operations, as well as public awareness campaigns, regarding the use of seat belts and child/booster seats by drivers and passengers will be conducted by the police this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 22–23, 2026.
During these checks, special emphasis will be placed on the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers, as well as the use of child safety seats and booster seats.
This year, from January 1 through June 30, as part of the daily traffic checks conducted by the police, 4,075 out-of-court citations were issued for failure to wear a seat belt by drivers and vehicle passengers. Additionally, 178 out-of-court citations were issued for transporting a passenger in an unsecured seat.
The purpose of these enforcement and awareness-raising efforts is to prevent serious and fatal traffic accidents, foster road safety awareness, and improve safety on the road network.
