In his statements, Police Headquarters Spokesperson Byron Vyronos said that the Cyprus Police received information from Danish authorities, via Europol, regarding a planned criminal act against individuals, which was allegedly scheduled to take place in Cyprus.
According to Mr. Vyron, coordinated actions, discreet surveillance, and the collection, analysis, and evaluation of information and evidence followed.
“The subsequent investigations yielded testimony, on the basis of which arrest warrants were issued against three individuals,” Mr. Vyronos stated.

On Friday, a coordinated police operation took place in the districts of Larnaca and Famagusta, during which the three suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
The Police Headquarters Spokesperson emphasized that this case “demonstrates in practice the importance of the immediate exchange of information, operational cooperation, and coordinated action among European law enforcement agencies.”
As he noted, serious and organized crime is evolving, making use of new technologies, digital communication tools, and cross-border networks. Combating it, he added, requires modern capabilities, such as timely intelligence, data analysis, specialized operational action, and meaningful cross-border cooperation.
To this end, he said, the Cyprus Police is steadily upgrading the way it manages and combats serious and organized crime, strengthening its cooperation with Europol and the relevant European police authorities, and investing in modern methods of intelligence-led and operational policing.
The investigation is being conducted by a Special Investigative Team of the Police Headquarters, in cooperation with the relevant European authorities.
