The fire that broke out at noon on Monday in the area stretching from Prodromi to Neo Chorio was immediately contained, prompting the fire department to mobilize.
According to the latest update from the Department of Forests, the fire broke out on the outskirts of the community of Prodromi, adjacent to a residential area.
Fire trucks from the Akamas Forest Observatory and the Drouseia Forest Station responded to the scene, and the crews were able to immediately contain the fire and secure the perimeter.
During the operation, homes in the area were protected, and, thanks to the rapid containment of the fire, aerial support will ultimately not be required.
It should be noted that the “Astrap” had been put into effect and aerial support had been requested, as significant forces from the Forestry Department had been mobilized at the site with fire trucks and earthmovers.
