A 40-year-old man was placed in custody for eight days on Saturday, in whose luggage 25 kilograms of cannabis were allegedly found upon his arrival at Larnaca Airport from abroad. The 40-year-old suspect appeared before the Larnaca District Court, which issued a detention order against him.

The cannabis was discovered following an inspection by customs authorities around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, based on a tip from members of the Drug Enforcement Agency (YKAN). As announced by the police, a customs officer stopped the 40-year-old for inspection, and during the search of his luggage, two nylon packages were found containing cannabis with a total gross weight of 25 kilograms.
The 40-year-old was arrested on the spot and taken into custody to facilitate the investigation. The Drug Enforcement Agency is continuing its investigation.
