There have been rapid developments in the terrorism case following the arrest of a fourth suspect, a 41-year-old man who is alleged to be the person who recruited the other three suspects.
As reported by Alpha’s correspondent in Larnaca, Katerina Ioannou, the 41-year-old, who was arrested in an Asian country and transferred to Cyprus on Friday, had been under surveillance by the police and intelligence services for about a month.
The 41-year-old faces eleven serious charges, and the Larnaca District Court has issued an eight-day detention order against him.
It is recalled that, according to information from CNA, investigators from the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department believe the 41-year-old is the person who coordinated and directed the group, while the three accused are said to have traveled abroad, where they had contact and meetings with him. The same sources report that authorities are examining his role as the person who allegedly provided instructions and guidance for the activities of the network under investigation.
His arrest is described by relevant sources as one of the most significant successes of the Cypriot law enforcement authorities since the start of the investigation, as it is believed that it may shed light on the entire structure and international connections of the alleged organization.

The 41-year-old is being investigated for the same serious offenses as the three defendants, including terrorism, membership in a criminal organization, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, and money laundering.
It should be noted that a 54-year-old Palestinian with Cypriot citizenship, as well as two men aged 32 and 38, who are scheduled to appear again on August 6.
According to reports from the investigating authorities regarding the case, the 32-year-old and 38-year-old are alleged to have ties to Hamas and are alleged to have been planning terrorist attacks against Israeli targets in Cyprus. These allegations are the subject of criminal proceedings and have not been adjudicated by the court.
