The Larnaca District Administration continues to document and assess the damage caused by the extreme weather conditions that struck the city and district on Saturday, August 29 August, and so far, 12 cases of damage have been recorded.
As Larnaca District Commissioner Odysseas Hatzistefanou told CNA, complaints have been filed from Pervolia, Kiti, Athienou, Kalo Chorio, and Livadia.
According to Mr. Hatzistefanou, the severe weather caused damage to homes, including water tanks and solar panel systems.
In one instance, in fact, a tower on which a water tank was mounted collapsed.
Problems were also reported at a livestock farm in Athienou, and the case has been referred to the Department of Agriculture for further handling.
The District Administration is continuing its on-site inspections, with officials assessing the damage and preparing relevant reports. The reports are expected to be sent to the Ministry of the Interior on September 8.
The District Governor of Larnaca reminds citizens that the deadline for submitting complaints and damage claims is September 7.
As for damage involving vehicles, these cases are referred to the Electromechanical Service for appropriate handling.
The District Administration is currently compiling data, and the number of cases may increase until the process is completed.
