Nikos K. Siakolas was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Hermes Airports consortium, which in 2006 took over the management and development of Larnaca and Paphos airports, playing a decisive role in shaping the vision that transformed Cyprus’s airports into modern gateways to the country.
He served as the first Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hermes Airports, from the company’s inception until July 2011, and subsequently as Lifetime Honorary Chairman, consistently offering insight and dedication, he consistently shared his knowledge and experience. Until very recently, he actively participated in the company’s operations and strategic decisions, always remaining committed to its progress and development.
The late Mr. was distinguished for his foresight, his business acumen, and the way he approached the future with boldness and optimism. He believed unwaveringly, and through his contributions, he established Cyprus’s airports not only as modern and functional infrastructure but also as true jewels for the country, worthy of its history, hospitality, and aspirations.
The legacy he leaves behind, both at Hermes Airports and in Cyprus’s business and economic life, will continue to be a source of inspiration for future generations.

With a career spanning more than 70 years, Nikos Siakolas was one of the country’s most iconic business figures. He worked with vision, creativity, and perseverance, developing one of the country’s largest business groups and creating thousands of jobs. His business ventures were pioneering and led, among other things, to the creation of the joint ventures that developed and manage the new airports in Larnaca and Paphos, the opening of the first department stores and DIY superstores in Cyprus, as well as the construction of the Siakola Tower within the walls of Nicosia.
Alongside his business activities, the late Mr. Siakolas was deeply involved in philanthropic work, which included significant donations to the University of Cyprus for the reconstruction of the buildings of the “Nikos K. Siakolas” School of Medicine and Health Sciences “Nikos K. Siakolas” and the “Siakoleios Educational Center for Clinical Medicine,” the construction of museums and cultural institutions, and the establishment of the Karava Scholarship Foundation.
The business and social legacy he leaves behind serves as a source of inspiration and a benchmark for Cypriot business.
