Specifically, Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou, speaking on SPOR FM radio, noted that in the spirit of good governance, the member appointed to Cyta’s Board of Directors will be removed and replaced. According to Mr. Antoniou, this individual had not disclosed, at the time of his appointment, his relationship with the quasi-governmental organization, which appears to have created a conflict of interest.
As the Union had previously stated, it argued that in this individual’s case, there is a conflict of interest and institutional incompatibility.
According to ASET-Cyta, the spouse of the individual in question works at Cyta as a secretary to a senior executive. The union cites Article 3B of the Law on Certain Legal Entities under Public Law (Appointment of Boards of Directors) of 1988, arguing that this specific relationship falls under the circumstances that preclude such an appointment.
