The depositors of the former Laiki Bank, who suffered losses, are once again on tenterhooks due to a disagreement—which they claim has arisen— between the President of the Republic and the Minister of Finance regarding the payment of the agreed-upon compensation.
On the one hand, Nikos Christodoulides stated that the deadline for beneficiaries to submit applications has been extended, while on the other hand, Makis Keravnos cites fiscal risks.

Speaking on the “Alpha News” program, Adonis Papakonstantinou, President of the Depositors’ Association of the former Laiki Bank, and Stavros Gialouridis, President of the Securities Holders’ Association, requested a meetinga meeting with the President of the Republic to clarify the issues that have arisen.
The two issued an “ultimatum” setting next Tuesday as the deadline for scheduling a meeting at the Presidential Palace and announced that, failing that, they would take decisive action.
